Why now
The paperwork arrived. The entry writers didn't.
The $800 de minimis exemption ended for China and Hong Kong in May 2025 and globally that August; CBP made it indefinite by rule in June 2026, with statutory elimination in July 2027. Shipments that used to clear duty-free are now real customs entries — and there aren't enough trained writers in the country to key them by hand.

The pressure is not only volume. CBP issued 27,479 bond insufficiency notices in FY2025 — around $3.6 billion in combined value, roughly double the 2019 level — as duty burdens pushed importers past their continuous-bond capacity.

What a prepared entry is worth
Entrio does not remove the labour in an entry — it moves it. Your reviewer still reads the entry, but reads it in under 10 min instead of preparing it in 45–60 min. So the honest comparison is not the plan rate against the labour: it is the plan rate plus the review that remains, against the labour.
That is the ledger beside this one, on Solo — the cheapest plan to start on, and the one carrying the highest per-entry rate we sell. Growth and Scale land lower.
The by-hand figure is our estimate from salary and industry benchmarks, not a measurement of Entrio. The review figure charges the shortest hand-prepared entry's labour at the full review cap, at the same loaded rate as the entry writer's — a licensed reviewer's hour may cost more. Plan rates are each tier's included volume; past it, extra preps bill at the rate in the table.

What brokers actually ask us
Is Entrio a customs broker?+−
No. Entrio is a preparation and screening tool. A licensed customs broker (or qualified self-filing importer) reviews everything Entrio produces and remains responsible for the filing. That's by design — reasonable care requires a human who can stand behind the entry.
Does the AI file anything automatically?+−
Never. Confidence routing decides what needs human judgment, but nothing leaves Entrio without a human's click — exporting is itself a recorded approval, and uncertain entries can't skip review. Every AI suggestion shows its reasoning and evidence, and the audit trail records who approved what.
What documents can I upload?+−
Commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and air waybills — as PDFs, scans, phone photos, CSVs, or text. Multi-document packets are assembled into one shipment automatically. Email-in intake is on the roadmap.
How do I know a classification is any good?+−
You read its argument. Every suggestion arrives with GRI-based reasoning — the material, function and heading logic written out — plus the verbatim document text it was based on, so your broker evaluates a defensible position rather than a bare code. Each line carries a confidence score, and anything below your workspace threshold is routed to a human instead of being committed silently. Your own confirmed classifications override fresh suggestions for repeat SKUs, so the catalog gets more useful the longer you use it. A licensed broker confirms every line before anything is filed.

Is my data safe? Do you train AI on it?+−
Your documents and client data are encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting providers, isolated per workspace, and never used to train AI models — Anthropic's commercial terms bar training on customer content. Every action in your workspace is written to an append-only log. Ask us to delete your data and we will; our AI provider may hold a copy briefly under its own retention policy.
